Structural Engineer – Team Leader – Whakatane/Bay of Plenty

This brand-new role has been created due to the ongoing growth of this employee-owned, multi-disciplined engineering consultancy.

The Whakatane-based Structural Engineering Team requires a Senior Structural Engineer to step into the role of Team Leader to spearhead and strengthen the currently small team of three engineers.

This opportunity would suit a Senior Structural Engineer keen to step up into a lead level role. Reporting directly to the Structural Engineering Director based in Auckland, the successful candidate will be given the autonomy to grow and develop the team and to develop relationships with new clients, in line with the continued expansion and growth of the consultancy.

The role provides the flexibility to combine working on-site in the Whakatane office and from home. Relocation assistance is on offer if the successful candidate does not already reside in the Bay of Plenty region.

The Whakatane office was established in 2017 in response to the on-going growth and development of the Bay of Plenty region. The office has been consistently busy and continues to grow with interesting, diverse residential, commercial, and industrial projects secured.

The Structural Engineering Team is currently involved in a number of projects including:

  • SED for new dwelling builds that are beyond the scope of NZS3604.
  • Lots of SED foundations for new dwelling builds to suit the soil conditions.
  • Seismic assessments of old commercial buildings and development of strengthening schemes.
  • Design for new commercial structure builds.

 

Established in the mid-1980s, this respected company provides multi-disciplinary expertise that allows clients to use just one engineering company for their entire project. This consultancy has strong existing partnerships with a wide range of clients, providing services for architects, developers, planners, surveyors and building owners. The consultancy is resourced in structural, civil, geotechnical, environmental and fire engineering service and has offices in Auckland, Christchurch, and Whakatane. The individual engineering teams integrate with each other across projects in a supportive team working environment.

Ideally you will already be based in New Zealand and hold the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in Structural Engineering.
  • New Zealand based experience preferred.
  • A tertiary qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering
  • CPEng registered or currently working towards this.
