Senior Structural Engineer – Queenstown

This multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with offices throughout New Zealand (Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton, Tauranga and Queenstown) is currently recruiting a new team of Structural Engineers to be based in Queenstown. This role will be the first to be filled within the new Structural Engineering team and presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer to build a team around themselves.

The Company

The company has an excellent reputation throughout New Zealand and provides structural, civil, water, transport engineering design consulting, project management, environmental engineering, planning and surveying for a wide range of clients. They currently have a workforce of over 150 within NZ and boast a very low staff turnover rate, indicative of high job satisfaction levels. This business has been operating for over 100 years and has played a key part in the development of affordable housing, the ongoing development of infrastructure in and around Auckland, and the rebuild of Christchurch. The structural engineering team have provided their expertise across a wide range projects including, high and low rise residential developments, universities, listed heritage buildings, airports and harbour and marine developments.

The role

If you are a Structural Engineer based in New Zealand and you are looking for a role that offers more than the day to day design elements of being an engineer, this is the job you are looking for. You will play an active role in the business development and strategic planning for this new structural team and as such you will be in a front row seat for progression and career opportunities as the department grows.

You will be supported by a number of structural engineering professionals and the management teams in the company’s North and South Island offices but you will be given freedom to plan your own workload and make your own day to day decisions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of NZ based structural engineering design experience and a background of working on a range of commercial and residential buildings projects for a design consultancy. A relevant bachelor’s degree from a Washington Accord University is required for this role.

The managers and directors are keen to maintain the tight knit and friendly environments found within the company’s existing branches and are hoping to add a team member who is looking to make a long term commitment.
