Principal Engineer – Civil – Alliance

MDRS are currently working with a market leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in their search for a new Principal Civil Engineer to be based in Auckland CBD. This a brand new role that will offer the chance to be part of a prestigious Alliance programme which will help to re-develop a number of areas within Auckland.

The Alliance programme includes full re-development of number of neighborhoods including – Civil design and construction, removal of old houses, land remediation, arranging consents, earthworks and infrastructure, construction of roads, parks and utilities.

About the role

The Principal Engineer will work closely with the Technical Director in providing technical and management support to the civil engineering team. In practical terms, this means providing technical expertise, quality control, supporting and mentoring junior civil engineering team members.

Key Criteria

Relevant degree/masters qualification in Civil Engineering and ideally CPEng registered engineer.

Proven leadership experience.

Expertise in the use of 12D, AutoCAD and GIS.

Experience of working with local government organisations.

12+ years of NZ based experience, local market knowledge

Ability to provide technical expertise in the design of large land development and civil engineering infrastructure projects.

This Civil Engineer role would offer the opportunity to work for a well known and highly regarded engineering, surveying and planning consultancy which has offices based in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Christchurch. The company has over 100+ staff members who enjoy working for a progressive and forward thinking organisation.

This role would suit someone who has Civil 3D software experience and is looking for a 360 degree engineering role with the chance to get out of the office and be involved in the project management and delivery of projects. You will report directly to the senior management team and have responsibility for the mentoring of two intermediate level civil engineers based in Auckland. You will be ideally placed for career opportunities as this department grows and will be exposed to a wide range of existing clients across ongoing and upcoming projects.

Successful applicants will be given the opportunity of working on a wide range of projects across the land development, urban design, shared spaces and 3 waters areas.

You will ideally have 5 years of NZ based professional experience and already be working in a consulting engineering environment. You will also be a strong communicator both written and verbally.

Are you an experienced Civil Engineer who is who is interested in working on Urban Development, Shared Spaces and Land Development projects? Looking for exposure to Project Management and Project Delivery duties?

This Civil Engineer role would offer the opportunity to work for a well known and highly regarded consultancy which has offices based in both Auckland and Christchurch and a workforce of over 80 staff across the civil engineering, structural engineering and surveying sectors.

The business is currently undergoing a period of growth and is able to offer excellent ongoing career development and progression opportunities to ambitious engineers. The civil engineering division is currently involved a wide range of projects across the land development, urban design, shared spaces, 3 waters, earthworks and roading projects.

This role would suit someone who has Civil 3D software experience and is looking for a 360 degree engineer role with the chance to get out of the office and be involved in the project management and delivery of projects – You will have to opportunity to work alongside the company’s principal civil engineers in liaising with a wide range of existing clients across ongoing and upcoming projects.
